Overview

The valley of flowers changes its colors almost every day as it blooms with hundreds of different flowers, taking on various shades as time progresses. The valley was declared a National Park in 1982 and now is a World Heritage Site. It was believed by the locals that the valley of flowers was inhabited by fairies. The valley is home to many celebrated flowers like the brahmakamal, the blue poppy and the cobra lily. It is a much sought after haunt for flower-lovers, botanists and trekkers.

    Rishikesh - Govindghat (Drive 265km,8-9 hrs) : Govindghat

    Nanda devi Standard

    On arrival in the railway station/bus stand, proceed directly drive to Govindghat via Joshimath and Devprayag. On the way, visit Devprayag where Bhagirathi and Alaknanda rivers meet. From here the holy river Ganges started. Arrival at Govindghat by the evening and check into the hotel. Get a sound sleep for tomorrow's trek to Ghangharia. Dinner and Overnight stay at Govindghat.

    Govindghat - Ghangaria (Trek 11kms 7/8 hrs) : Ghangaria

    After an early breakfast, we drive to Govindghat and start our 11km trek. From Govindghat, there is a gradual ascent along a well maintained pilgrim trail to Ghangaria. Upon arrival at Ghangria check into Camp. Explore the surroundings in the evening. Dinner and overnight stay at Guest House/Hotel.

    Govindghat :- is a town in Chamoli district, Uttarakhand, India, located at the confluence of the Alaknanda and Laxman Ganga rivers. It lies around roughly 22 kilometres (14 mi) from Joshimath on NH58 at an altitude of 6,000 feet (1,800 metres). It is the roadhead on the way to Shree Badrinathji yatra - One of the important places of worship of Hindus and the starting point for trekking to Hemkund Sahib and Valley of Flowers.[1] Hundreds of people, mostly Hindu pilgrims to Shree Badrinathji and Sikh pilgrims on way to the holy shrine of Shree Hemkund Sahibji and occasional tourists to the Valley of Flowers, arrive here every day. The gurudwara, located on the right bank of the Alaknanda River, is the most important landmark in the area. It also provides accommodation to pilgrims. The local market has many hotels, guest houses and restaurants. The economy thrives on the traveling season, which begins at the end of May and lasts until the end of September.

    Ghangaria - Valley of Flowers - Ghangaria (3.5kms one side/4-5 hrs) : Ghangaria

    After breakfast trek to Valley Of Flowers ( you can take pony/horse at your own cost) (3858 m) from Ghangaria. The valley is an enchanting sight with an impressive array of rare wildflowers like Geranium, Marsh marigold, Prinula, Potentilla, Geum, Asters, Lilium, Ranunculus, Corydalis, Inula, Braham kamal, Campanula, Dactylorhiza, Cypripedium, Strawberry, Epilobium, Rhododendrons and numerous others. Most of the flowers have medicinal values too. The valley is 10 kms long, 2 kms wide, and is divided by the Pushpawati stream, into which several tiny streams and waterfalls merge. After enjoying the beauty of valley trek back to Ghangaria. Dinner & overnight stay at the Guest House / Hotel.

    Ghangaria:- also known as "Gobind Dham" is a small village on the way to Hemkund Sahib, a popular pilgrimage site for Sikhs which is about 6 km from here and the Valley of Flowers, a national park known for its variety of flowers about 5 km from here. It is located in the northern Himalayan ranges at an altitude of 3049 meters in Uttarakhand state of India.

    Ghangaria is situated at the confluence of the river Pushpawati, which forms Lakshman Ganga, that later meets the river Alaknanda at Govindghat. It is the last human habitation in the Ghangaria valley. This place is usually used by travellers as a base camp to visit Hemkund Sahib and Valley of flowers.[1] It is only open from June till October. The rest of the year, the valley is covered under snow.

    Ghangaria can be reached after a trek of less than 14 km. From Govindghat shared taxis are available up to 4 km to Pulna, then from Pulna the trek begins to Ghangaria. Ghangaria has a helipad and the helicopter is accessible to valley of flowers as well. One can also hire a porter or mule or a helicopter to avoid this strenuous trekking. There is no clear road, only a path made of rocks. Latest track is good for walking. A walking bamboo stick will be helpful, available in Gobindghat for only 20-30inr.

    Today morning start your trek to Hemkund Sahib, admiring the landscape all around. Do spot some flowers at the waysides spec. Blue Poppy & Brahmkamal.

    After visiting Hemkund Sahib return to Ghangaria. Overnight is at hotel in Ghangaria.

    Hemkund Sahib :- also spelled Hemkunt), formally known as Gurudwara Shri Hemkund Sahib Ji, is a Sikh place of worship and pilgrimage site in Chamoli district, Uttarakhand, India. It is devoted to Guru Gobind Singh (1666–1708), the tenth Sikh Guru, and finds mention in Dasam Granth. With its setting of a glacial lake surrounded by seven mountain peaks, each adorned by a Nishan Sahib on its cliff, it is according to the Survey of India located in the Garhwal Himalaya at an elevation of 4,632 meters (15,197 feet).[3] It is approached from Govindghat on the Rishikesh-Badrinath highway. The main town near Gobindghat is Joshimath. The elevation of the lake at Hemkund is approximately 15,197 feet.
